Seasons of Gnaraloo

The best time of year to come here all depends on what season you love best and the type of experience you’re looking for out here.

Temperatures

January to March are the hottest months in Gnaraloo. Be prepared for 30°C to 40°C. As the heat rises, so do the amount of flies! If you are looking for relative solitude, this is the best time to visit. You’ll experience great water visibility and fantastic sunsets. June to September offers cool and comfortable winter temperatures of maximum 20°C to 25°C.

Ocean Conditions

Each season brings a new set of ocean conditions that are optimal for different activities. Gnaraloo is traditionally visited for wind and kite surfing in summer. More information at Gnaraloo Surf and Wind Distribution by Month.

Fauna

All year round you can see kangaroos, emus, bungarras, bustards and wedgetail eagles at Gnaraloo. Plus, the Ningaloo Reef environment adds a wide variety of marine animals to the list of things to see. Visit the Gnaraloo Wilderness Foundation to learn more about the incredible biodiversity of the area.

Flora

For plant enthusiasts (or just those who enjoy beautiful scenery), Gnaraloo’s wildflowers are blooming from July to September. If we’re lucky with winter rain, the flowers literally carpet the grounds here!
